Honeymoon Day 1 | Bangkok, Thailand

We got married in June but decided to wait till November to go on our honeymoon because summer in Thailand would've been unbearable. Counting down the months was hard but at the same time it went by faster than we thought and it was totally worth it!

We started our first day by going to the mall next to our Airbnb to get some food. The malls in Asia are awesome because they're huge and the food courts have a wide variety and are always very affordable.

After we ate, we got in a taxi and went to the Grand Palace. It was extremely hot and humid so we were sweating bullets. To make matters worse, Alice had to wear a cardigan over her dress because you can't go in unless your shoulders and knees are covered. Mike even had to buy a pair of pants at a random shop there because his basketball shorts were above his knee by an inch at the most. Once we entered though, we were speechless at the beauty of the architecture. It looked like every inch of every building was covered in gold!

People wore black and waited in line for hours to pay their respects to King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

After the Grand Palace, we wanted to cool down and decided to get some ice cream. We flagged down a tuk-tuk and got ripped off :( Lesson learned! The ice cream shop had no signs and we spent about 30 mins walking in a circle before we realized it was right in front of us. Of course it was... Once we cooled down, we got in an Uber and went to Khao San Road. We were underwhelmed by the size of the strip but there were lots of things to see nonetheless.

Coconut and mango ice cream!

Yeesh!
